Socrates Café and Philosophers' Club now operate under the auspices of our non-profit group Democracy Café. This initiative is devoted to supporting philosophical inquirers of all ages and walks of life who embrace the version of the Socratic Method that we have crafted since 1996 as they become more engaged and autonomous thinkers and doers who strive to make ours a more inclusive world.
The gatherings bring together people from a wide array of walks of life and experiences. They take place in venues like coffee houses, libraries, hospices, senior centers, nursing homes, prisons, plazas and other public spaces, bookstores, homeless shelters and community centers, libraries and schools.
We also now have 'special editions' of Socrates Cafe, including the Great Works Cafe, in which the questions explored emerge from a timely and timeless text or film or poem.
